Variable — not the same every week
The centre itself is open daily until 11:00 pm. My own sessions are a subset of that and change from week to week, so please book rather than turn up — the clinic will tell you which days I am in.
Before you come
Bring any previous scans, blood results or discharge summaries you have, even old ones. If you are coming about periods, a rough note of your last few cycles is more useful than you would think.
If the appointment is about something you find difficult to say out loud, write it down and hand me the paper. Patients do this often and it works perfectly well.
Bringing someone with you
You are welcome to bring your husband, your mother, a friend — or to come alone and have a chaperone present instead. Say what you would prefer and that is what happens. If you would rather the reason for your visit was not obvious to whoever comes with you, mention it when you book.
Second opinions
If you have been given a diagnosis or offered surgery elsewhere and want another view before you decide, that is a perfectly good reason to book — what to bring and what happens.
Finding us
The centre is on Hor Al Anz in Deira, near Abu Hail. There is parking on site, and Abu Hail metro station is a short drive away. The building is step-free.

Questions people ask before they book
Do I need a referral to see you?
No. You can book directly. If your insurer asks for a referral before they will cover a specialist, the centre will tell you when you book.
Are you a female gynaecologist?
Yes. I am a woman, and if you would prefer to be seen by a woman that is reason enough to book — you do not need to explain it.
Which languages do you consult in?
English and Hindi for consultations. I also speak Nepali fluently and Kannada conversationally, so you are welcome to switch if it is easier to say something in your own language.
Can I be seen if I am visiting Dubai and have no UAE insurance?
Yes. NMC Medical Centre, Deira sees self-paying patients as well as insured ones. Ask for the fee when you book so there is no surprise.
Can I bring someone with me?

Will I have to be examined at the first visit?
Not unless you agree to it. Some questions need an examination or a scan to answer properly, and I will explain why before anything happens. You can decline any part of it and still be helped.
Can I have a scan and blood tests on the same visit?
Usually, yes. NMC Medical Centre, Deira has radiology and a laboratory in the same building and is open from 7 am until 11 pm, so a scan or bloods can often be done in the same trip rather than on another day.
What should I bring?
Your Emirates ID and insurance card, and any previous scans, blood results or discharge summaries you have, even old ones. If you are coming about periods, a rough note of your last few cycles helps more than you would think.

I have been offered surgery elsewhere. Can I see you for a second opinion?
Yes, and it is a good reason to book. Bring the scans, reports and the name of the operation you were offered. A second opinion sometimes confirms the first one, which is also a useful answer.

NMC Medical Centre, Deira is on Hor Al Anz in Deira, near Abu Hail. There is parking on site, Abu Hail metro station is a short drive away, and the building is step-free.
This website is not for emergencies. If you have heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, reduced fetal movements or any symptom you are worried about in pregnancy, go to your nearest emergency department rather than waiting for a reply.
