Obstetrician & Gynaecologist · Dubai

Dr Arti Sharma

I look after women through pregnancy and birth, and through the conditions — heavy periods, endometriosis, PCOS, pain during sex — that are so often carried quietly for years before anyone thinks to ask about them.

My practice is at NMC Medical Centre, Deira.

How I work

I trained in India and have spent my whole career in women’s health — from a girl’s first period, through pregnancy and birth, to the questions that arrive a long time afterwards.

I treat every patient the way I would want someone to treat my own family. Being a woman myself, I find people relax a little sooner when they raise intimate things with me, and that matters more than it sounds: a great deal of what I see has been endured for years simply because it felt too awkward to mention.

You will not be rushed in my consulting room, and you will leave understanding what is happening to your body and what your options actually are — including the option to do nothing for now.

The range

Three parts to the practice

Pregnancy and birth, general gynaecology, and cosmetic gynaecology — under one doctor, so the stages of your life are not handed between strangers.

Pregnancy & birth

Antenatal care, vaginal birth, caesarean section, high-risk pregnancy and the weeks afterwards.

Gynaecology

PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, painful or heavy periods, fertility, menopause, incontinence and keyhole surgery.

Cosmetic gynaecology

Labiaplasty, hymenoplasty, vaginoplasty and the non-surgical alternatives — discussed without embarrassment.

What actually happens

Your first appointment

People put off coming because they do not know what they are walking into. So here it is.

We talk first. You sit down, dressed, and tell me what is wrong in your own words. I will ask questions. Nothing else happens until that conversation is finished.

An examination only if it is needed — and only once you have agreed to it. I explain what I am doing before I do it, a chaperone is available whenever you want one, and it stops the moment you say stop.

You leave understanding what is going on. What I think it is, what would confirm it, and what the options are — including doing nothing for now, which is a legitimate choice more often than people are told.

If saying it out loud is the hard part, write it down and hand me the paper. Patients do that often and it works perfectly well.

Worth bringing

  • Previous scans, blood tests or discharge summaries — old ones included
  • A rough note of your last few cycles, if you are coming about periods
  • Any medication you take, including supplements
  • Your questions, written down if that is easier

Insurance

Direct billing with NextCare, NAS, Neuron, MedNet, Daman, Sukoon and most other major UAE networks and insurers — so in most cases you show your card rather than pay and claim back.
